A Southern California attorney who helped professional athletes file workers’ compensation claims in the state admitted to paying about $155,000 in exchange for client referrals, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday. Ronald Mix, 78, pleaded guilty to tax fraud Monday at the federal court in Kansas City, Mo. Prosecutors say his 2012 tax filing claimed $40,000 in charitable donations to an organization known as the 6th Man Foundation, which operated as Project Contact Africa.
